Each year the Big Rapids Festival of the arts commissions one large scale public work. This mural was painted for their 2020 festival and is a depiction of 3 goddess characters--the Protector, the Watcher and the Keeper. They are the guardians of the city seen here with their flora and fauna—including animals native to Michigan. The design attempts to create a scene that is energetic, dynamic and bold, while simultaneously calm, serene and peaceful. They are a reflection of beauty, possibility, growth and a reminder of mother earth and all she offers.
